At 2-3, I have the worst-rated pass defense, third-worst rush defense, and worst overall defense in the NFL, based on yardage allowed.

I can't wait for the draft.

I found a great OLB in the draft, 4th round 85 ovr. A decent WR, good enough to start 3rd string. Oddly enough, my highly scouted oline man taken in round 1 went boom, a 57 ovr lol

So, riddle me this guys;
back to the r3 sack thing...
As a DT, r3 down causes my guy to go face first as duly noted in previous posts.
However, as on OLB, r3 down does no such thing, on a LB it's a spin move. And I made very sure I was moving the stick down and not to the side.
Im so confused lol
If I just had clear knowledge of wtf the moves were, I could conquer it, but this has become an obsession.
Over at OS and some other places, it seems ppl have no trouble with sacks, just me I guess.
They all say, dive at the QB to avoid him throwing the flutter pass, but alas, I never get that free so I dont know if it works or not.
Ive also read to change up the play calling, running line stunts etc...but the 3-4 books Ive run, Steelers, Cowboys and 3-4, dont have but maybe two or three such plays, one of which I know is in the nickel formation.
Is there like a whole other Madden world Im just not getting? Is this like the Truman show?

not to sound ****ty, but it's the Lions so no huge deal there.
What is a huge deal is Im tied for second to last with 11, and I have a good, not stellar, but good defense with arguably one of the better pass rushers in the league.
Two seasons, zero sacks. Thats 25 games with not one single QB drop for a guy who led the league a season ago..or was it two?

In the interests of trying something else, I exited myskill and went to custom.
However, for my attributes in custom, I just put the sliders at the level they were in myskill.
That allows me to edit subcategories, such as pass defense-pass rush.
I cranked that bitch up to 70 lol
No huge difference that I noticed after one game. Keep in mind, Im not looking for cheesy settings to give me five sacks a game, but I think I should get at least one or two team sacks at least every two or three games. Dont think that is asking a lot.

Dominated the Packers last night in a 26-10 win. Maurice Morris rushed for over 100 yards and Matt Stafford threw for nearly 300 yards in the win. Also, the Detroit offense held the ball for over 39 minutes while the defense forced 3 turnovers. All in all a good win.

Also - had my first sack and also a roughing-the-passer penalty.

FYI - after using R3 to get around the LT, I dove at Rodgers when I was free and got the sack.

something I meant to post a few days ago was that I received two unnecessary roughness penalties (late hit out of bounds hits) over the course of my last four games and I had never seen those before.
Anyone get any PI calls? Thinking about tweaking that abit.
Also, in the above post, I noted I tweaked my def pass rush slider to 70...well, that wsa to make it harder lol.
So I backed it off to zero and now Ware has two sacks so that's an improvement.
However, the r3 stick is still giving me issues. Im wondering if a flick of the stick, l or r triggers an animation and if you use it again before that move is complete, it causes havoc with your guy sending you face first in the dirt. Or, do you hold the stick l or right...? beats me, but its a work in progress. Im getting a little better at it, but still dont know what the hell I did right when it does work.

let me know what you think of the vids previous post...meantime, just finished my second season and won the SB, wnt 13-3.
Tough playoff season, almost lost one and had to come back from 17 down vs Ten in the big one to win it.
Down 17-0 in the second quarter, I was able to get a fg, and then score a td, and then it just avalanched from there.
A long run run resulted in a quick td, then a pick for a td. Ten scored their own touch only to have me run the KO back lol.
Quickly, here are some notes:
PA pass has worked for me one time in two seasons. Once
Screens work for an average of 5-7 yards, occasionally breaking the big one.
I've had maybe two draw plays that worked for about 5 yards. A high percentage of the rest I was tackled just as or right before I even got the ball.
There were 7 4k passers with 4 of them over 4500, highest was 4700.
2 rushed for over 2k, while another 8 ran for over 1500.
9 had over 1k receiving yards and 4 of those were over 1500
Noone threw for 40 TDs (38)
TD reception highs were 18, 16, 15 multiple times
Two were over 20 sacks (22 highest) at least another 8 over 16
In the SB, I was FINALY able to get Ware a sack, manually. He ended up with 5 on the year.
My OLB diamond in the rough I found was def ROTY.
I think things started to get out of hand when I took myself off of MYSKILL back around week 12 or so because my games became very high scoring, broke 60 once and 50 another time., and you know Im not that good.
Barber had one game where he had a 5.8 ypc on about 18 carries, but other than that, he was about normal at 2.2 or so.
Felix Jones had been injured in Week 3 and was out for the year. Had a few other injuries, one to my TE for four weeks and a few others that were out for the game.
Romo had 35 TD's and 17 INT's I believe.
No trade proposals even though I had two guys on the block.
Worked the scouting feature this time so we will see how that pans out.

Lastly, I have arel hard time hitting a receiver in stride. Check that, I hit them in stride but as I simultaneously take control, that stride is gone. How do you guys handle that?

I think Im going back to myskill and see what happens although its now down to about 520 lol

Oh and one other thing, Super Bowl in a Dome but the morons still look up to see the jets flying over lol

Okay, so just smoked the Rams 47-20. Tried different things with my DE. It seems my best success was to NOT use R2 to sprint unless it was a stunt, and to use the R3 stick left/right just before engaging the OL. I got free quite a few times.

Also, I had an INT by a DT and while he rumbled downfield, my LB ran past instead of staying back to block, and therefore I was tackled at about the 25 yard line. My LB was around the 10 by that point. That needs to be fixed.

Also included in that was one user controlled sack, which wsa refreshing.
At the preseason mark, I went back into myskill mode after dumping it late last year.
Scrolling through my previous two years, it seems I have some rather high scoring games, so I might have to find a way to tweak that down a bit.
Otherwise, Ill see what this year brings. Kinda tough to stay riveted after winning the SB but we'll see...

there was a new feature added called Ultimate Team.
I didnt really go into it but apparently it is some sort of online feature that lets you put together your own team. Wish I had more info but I didnt really give it a look

I wish, at some point, Madden would allow a pass to be thrown to a receiver who's blanketed by a LB, and to complete the pass because the LB has his back turned to the QB.

Every time I think about purchasing this game, I read some of the comments in this thread and change my mind.
